What we write about
The official syllabus decides. Each chapter starts from the syllabus line it serves in the examinations it is tagged for, and is scoped by what those papers actually ask. Subjects are tagged to the examinations whose syllabus includes them, which is how PrepShark shows a TGPSC student Telangana’s history and economy and a UPSC student world history. Where PrepShark does not yet cover part of a syllabus, the exam’s syllabus page says so rather than leaving it out.
How content is made
Research
Each chapter, question set and edition is researched fresh from sources, not written from memory. Every examinable claim — a date, a number, an article of the Constitution, a place on a map — is traced to a source, and sources are preferred in the order set out in our sources and methodology.
Drafting, with AI assistance
Drafts are prepared with the help of AI models working through PrepShark’s written methods for each kind of content — how a chapter is structured, how a question and its explanation are written, how a news item is selected. The methods require research from sources for every piece, a record of where each claim comes from, and the resolution of conflicting sources by date, definition and authority rather than convenience.
Verification
The methods require every draft to be checked before it is finished: claims against the sources recorded for them, figures against their reference year and unit, and maps and diagrams against authoritative data. Structured content — chapters, editions, question sets — is also validated automatically for format before it can be uploaded.
Publishing
Nothing is published automatically. A member of the PrepShark team previews each chapter, question set or edition in PrepShark’s editor and publishes it. Published content keeps a history of its earlier versions.
Updates
Content is revised when the facts change — a new amendment, a new survey, a reorganised department — or when an error is found. A chapter page shows when its text last changed only when that date is known; it never shows a date that is merely when the page was rebuilt.
Corrections
You can report an error from any chapter, flashcard or question. How reports are reviewed and how corrections are made is described on the corrections page.
Independence
PrepShark is not affiliated with UPSC, TGPSC, APPSC or any government body. Exam pages reproduce official syllabus text from the commissions’ own documents and link to them; everything else on PrepShark is our own work.
