  • The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries witnessed the growth of political, social, educational and nationalist organisations in Hyderabad State.

  • These organisations emerged around different objectives:

    • Protection of community interests.
    • Expansion of education and social reform.
    • Civil and political rights.
    • Opposition to restrictions imposed by the Nizam's administration.
    • Participation in the wider Indian national movement.
    • Demand for responsible and representative government.

  • Three developments are especially important for Telangana history:

    • Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (MIM) — 1927
