-
The office of the Governor is dealt with primarily in Part VI of the Constitution.
-
Articles 153-167 cover the State Executive, while additional provisions relating to the Governor occur in Articles 174, 175, 176, 200, 201, 213, 217, 233 and 234.
-
The State Executive consists of:
- Governor.
- Chief Minister.
- Council of Ministers.
- Advocate-General of the State.
-
There is no office of Vice-Governor corresponding to the Vice-President at the Union level.
-
The Governor is the constitutional head of the State and ordinarily exercises executive functions on the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers.
-
The Governor also performs certain constitutional functions connecting the State with the Union, giving the office a dual constitutional role.
